We posted last week about the fabulous Melrose Ceilidh Band from Sheffield, and how they’ll be rocking the stage at the Dancing England ceilidh at The Nottingham Playhouse. To pair with such a long-established and highly regarded band, we wanted an up and coming caller able to take you through the dances and ensure that you have a cracking time.
Well, we’ve found her. We’d like to introduce you to Rhianwen Davies. Born and bred in Stockport, Rhianwen is now studying hard at Exeter University whilst calling as many ceilidhs as she possibly can.
She’s called for such luminous bands as Out of Hand, Steamchicken, Jigfoot, Gloworms, and Faustus. Her particular highlight was the recent Sheffield IVFDF calling for the aforementioned Steamchicken.
Genuine leg-end and Dancing England 2017 caller Fee Lock, when told that Rhianwen was the caller for 2019 said “Ooohhh, she’s excellent”.
We’re very much looking forward to this on-stage ceilidh with the Melrose Ceilidh Band and Rhianwen Davies. To whet your appetite, here’s a short video of Rhianwen on stage doing her stuff.
