There aren’t many traditional dance teams that can attest to an unbroken history of some 300 years, the Chipping Campden Morris Men claim to be one of just a handful. They’re based in the North Cotswold town of the same name which has a long agricultural history and in particular; the wool trade

The Chipping Campden Morris Dancers have long been a part of their community and the earliest records refer to a side existing in Campden in the 1700’s. They are one of only four traditional Cotswold sides that exist today who have an unbroken history.

The Campden side dances a unique tradition that can be found no where else, and the dances and steps form part of a living tradition which is passed on from one generation to the next. No other Morris sides dance Campden and this is something which is respected throughout the Morris community.

We’re very much looking forward to seeing the dancers, musicians, and Fool on the stage at the Playhouse.

Tickets are selling nicely, they can be purchased directly from the Playhouse website or by phoning 0115 941 9419. If you want to experience some of the very best of traditional English dance, then please do get yourself a ticket or two and come along to the show. Saturday 26th January 2019.
